Buying and storing tips

Buy scones in bakeries, or in the bakery section of some natural food or specialty stores. Choose the whole-grain variety whenever possible. Store in a plastic bag at room temperature, and use within a couple of days.

Varieties

Scones are usually dry and sweet, sometimes savoury, and may contain dried fruits, nuts, spices, and a variety of grains, including whole-grains and oats. They may be triangular, round, or square.
